| Douglas Gray
Douglas Gray was born in Chicago, and grew up in Laurel, Mississippi, a lumber town that has haunted his imagination ever since. With a calm and mature voice, Gray explores a remarkable range of subjects in his poetry. There is a lyrical freshness in the way he revisits traditional poetic themes - coming of age, the experience of loving another, the pain of loss and separation - and there is a comic freshness in the way he imagines a poetic world behind sensational headlines in his "tabloid" poems. He holds degrees in English literature and classical languages from the University of Dallas, the University of Virginia, and the University of Mississippi.
